My Mission

As an artist, it is very difficult to talk about my work because I see art as a language in and of itself. Any translation fails pitifully compared to viewing and spending time with an art piece. My approach to painting or drawing is to merely guide the viewer. I can not ignore what you, the viewer, brings to the experience of spending time with my art . I choose a subject that is important to me and then distill it to as visually universal an idea as possible. That distillation happens through metaphor, symbolism, and overall treatment of the paint surface (viscosity, brush strokes, color, and composition) . You as the viewer hopefully bring to my paintings your life experiences, and then can explore that universal idea, taking away a richer view of the world and in turn enriching those around you.
